During the first eight months of this year, China’s foreign trade experienced significant growth, with the total value of imported and exported goods reaching 34.78 trillion yuan, equivalent to $5.18 trillion. This figure represents a 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The country’s exports saw a 14.6% rise, amounting to 20.17 trillion yuan, while imports surged by 22% to 14.61 trillion yuan.
August proved to be a particularly robust month for China’s trade sector, as the combined value of imports and exports rose by 19.8% year-on-year, totaling 4.65 trillion yuan. In this month alone, exports climbed by 18.6%, and imports increased by 21.7%, demonstrating strong momentum in both areas of trade.
For four consecutive months, both exports and imports have consistently recorded double-digit growth compared to the previous year. Notably, import growth has outpaced export growth for six straight months, indicating a strong domestic demand and a balanced trade environment for the nation.
This trend underscores China’s resilience and adaptability in the global trade landscape, as the country continues to navigate challenges and leverage opportunities to bolster its economic position. The sustained growth in imports and exports highlights the dynamic nature of China’s trade activities and its significant role in international commerce.
