Taipei Police Investigate Online Bomb Threat Targeting Multiple School Campuses

Published on

Taipei police have launched an investigation after an online post threatened to place bombs at several high schools and universities in the city. Authorities say the message, posted on the communication platform Discord, may constitute public intimidation and prompted immediate security measures across school campuses.
The National Police Agency alerted the Taipei City Police Department, which then instructed all precincts to increase patrols and tighten campus security. Police Commissioner Lee Hsi-ho said investigators have reviewed online data, requested assistance from the Criminal Investigation Bureau, and coordinated with local units to ensure student safety. Initial inspections reported no suspicious items.
The Ministry of Education also received the threat and notified schools in both Taipei and New Taipei. The K-12 Education Administration activated its security protocols at 6 a.m., coordinating with local police and urging schools to strengthen access control, increase patrol frequency, and stay vigilant for suspicious individuals.
The Taipei City Department of Education confirmed that its campus safety mechanism was activated and emphasized that no signs of explosives have been found.
