Taiwan Businesses Seek NT$1.13 Billion in Tariff Relief Loans

Published on

Taiwan’s economics ministry has received over 700 applications from companies seeking tariff relief, with loan requests exceeding NT$1.13 billion (US$37 million). The relief programs, launched on August 7, aim to help businesses offset rising costs through enhanced export loan guarantees, expanded small business loans, R&D subsidies, and overseas order support.
So far, the export loan guarantee program has approved eight cases totaling NT$287.6 million in financing. The small business loan plan has attracted 120 applications, mainly from wholesale and metal product sectors. Meanwhile, the R&D subsidy program has received 252 applications, led by machinery and metal industries, while 321 applications have been filed under the overseas order program.
Officials said the government is working closely with industry groups, machinery and woodworking sectors, and trade associations to simplify applications and provide guidance. Additional support may be extended to companies investing in domestic equipment, as authorities aim to strengthen market strategies and boost international competitiveness.
