Taiwanese athlete Chen Guan-ling achieved remarkable success at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Ningbo, China, clinching two silver medals and one bronze in the women’s 57kg category. The 21-year-old showcased her prowess in the clean and jerk event by successfully lifting weights of 117kg, 119kg, and 125kg. Her impressive 125kg lift earned her a silver medal in this discipline, while her total combined weight of 215kg secured her another silver in the overall competition. Additionally, Chen claimed a bronze medal in the snatch category.
This championship performance marks an improvement for Chen, who previously won one silver and two bronze medals at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships. Earlier this year, she also achieved a bronze medal in the same weight category at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
The World Weightlifting Championships, which continue until November 8, are a significant event as they contribute qualification points towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, it is noteworthy that the women’s 57kg category does not feature in the Olympic weightlifting program, which includes six different weight classes.
