Taiwan Approves Imports of Polish Blueberries

Published on

Taipei: Taiwan’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced that blueberries from Poland have been cleared for import following successful quarantine inspections. Imports will begin once final origin verification is completed.
Orchards in Poland supplying blueberries must operate under the supervision of the State Plant Health Protection and Seed Inspection Service. Growers are required to monitor pests such as fruit flies and maintain detailed records of pest-control measures. Eligible packing facilities must also be registered and shared with Taiwan six weeks before each export season.
Before entering Taiwan, packaged blueberries will undergo export quarantine sampling. Any detection of harmful organisms would result in the rejection of the entire shipment.
Taiwan already sources blueberries from the US, Canada, Chile, Peru, New Zealand, and Japan. Last year, Taiwan imported 3,287 metric tons, more than triple the amount recorded a decade earlier, reflecting growing consumer demand.
