UK’s Man in Washington Calls for Nuclear-Powered AI Revolution with US

Published on

A future AI revolution powered by cheap nuclear energy is a key component of a new US-UK partnership proposed by Ambassador Peter Mandelson. In a forward-looking speech, Mandelson outlined a vision where the two nations collaborate not just on artificial intelligence and quantum computing, but also on the energy infrastructure required to support these power-hungry technologies.
The call for this deep integration came during a broader address in which Mandelson advocated for a historic technology alliance to counter China’s growing influence. He argued that the nation that dominates these future technologies will shape the 21st century, making this partnership a matter of urgent strategic importance for both the US and the UK. Initial announcements on this front are anticipated during President Trump’s upcoming state visit.
To make his case, Mandelson offered a favorable assessment of Donald Trump, portraying him as a decisive leader capable of the bold moves needed for such an ambitious undertaking. He praised Trump as a “risk-taker” who is rightly challenging a stale international consensus and has the political will to push through transformative projects.
Furthermore, Mandelson suggested that a post-Brexit UK is uniquely positioned for this role. Freed from EU regulations, he claimed Britain is a more nimble and attractive partner for US investment in high-tech and energy sectors. This combination of technological vision and political alignment, Mandelson argued, is the key to a prosperous and secure future for both allies.
