What’s in the Gaza Deal Israel Just Accepted?

Published on

Israel has accepted a major ceasefire proposal, but what exactly does it contain? According to an official announcement, the U.S.-backed deal is a comprehensive plan to end the war, not just pause it. It is built on two fundamental pillars: the release of all Israeli hostages and the complete disarmament of Hamas.
The first major component is humanitarian. The deal mandates the safe return of every person held captive in Gaza, addressing a primary demand of the Israeli public and government. This process would likely occur in stages, synchronized with the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory.
The second component is security-focused. In exchange for a permanent end to the war and the beginning of reconstruction in Gaza, Hamas must agree to lay down all its arms. This condition is designed to eliminate the group’s capacity to threaten Israel in the future, forming the bedrock of the “endgame” scenario envisioned by the U.S. and Israel.
With Israel’s formal acceptance, the framework is no longer just a proposal; it is a concrete offer on the table. The entire peace process now hinges on one question: will Hamas agree to disarm in exchange for an end to the conflict? The world is watching for their answer.
